Discover your family history!

William & Mary has partnered with the Library of Virginia to offer a workshop focusing on African-American genealogy resources.

The Library of Virginia houses materials that date back to the 1600's. Collectively, these records contain the lived experiences of enslaved and free Black and multiracial people who lived in Virginia from the establishment of slavery until its demise in 1865. Untold Project Manager Lydia Neuroth and State Archivist Greg Crawford will share how to access these stories through online resources available on the Library of Virginia website, as well as examples of document types and how these records contribute to a larger narrative of Virginia history.

W&M Librarian Jessica Ramey will discuss genealogical resources at the university’s Swem Library. Attendees will also hear about local projects and partnerships, including the Bray School Lab at W&M.

Lunch will be provided for those who RSVP.
