Celebrate the 200th anniversary of the pianist-composer Franz Liszt's birth with W&M faculty Maria Yefimova at the piano, {{http://web.wm.edu/so/orchestra/mariayefimova.html}}, performing his second piano concerto that showcases not only the piano but soloists from within the orchestra.
After the Soviet victory over Hitler in 1945, Stalin expected a victorious, triumphant symphony from Shostakovich. He instead responded with an unexpectedly short and lithe work, filled with sarcasm, humor and melancholy.
