[PAST EVENT] Opera in Williamsburg presents "Il Trovatore"

Three summers ago, opera lover and now-retired William & Mary professor Naama Zahavi-Ely heard Israeli soprano Yasmine Levi-Ellentuck and Argentinian baritone Gustavo Feulien in the climactic duet from Il Trovatore. "They were amazing," says Naama. "Their performance was still playing in my ears days later, even though I was hearing plenty of other outstanding opera singing every day that July at the International Vocal Arts Institute (IVAI) in Tel Aviv. I really wished I could hear these two in the complete opera."

Now, two and a half years later, Naama is making her dream come true. With the help of conductor Jorge Parodi and director Mathieu Guertin, Opera in Williamsburg was able to put together yet another outstanding cast, one that is up to the considerable challenges of Il Trovatore.

According to Naama Zahavi-Ely, the W&M Stage Combat Student Association will take part in the production.

On Nov. 1, a meet-the-artist event will take place at the Newtown Art Gallery, 5:30 to 8, free and open to the public.
