[PAST EVENT] The Seventh Annual Sankofa Gala

February 17, 2024
7pm - 9pm
Location
Sadler Center, Tidewater Ballroom

Sponsored by Student Assembly - this elegant evening is a celebration of Black Excellence with formal attire. RSVP's requested!

Sankofa is a word from the Twi and Fante languages of Ghana meaning “to go back and get it”. Sankofa tells us to look back throughout Black history, contextualized to us as the history of enslaved and free African Americans at William and Mary, as we continue to move forward as a community. During this Gala we embrace the spirit of Sankofa that is, looking back at the past in order to move forward to continue to live, create, and commemorate African American history.
