Join us for a panel in the Creative Careers Immersion series, titled

Creative Roles in Tech

Highlighting alumni who are working in tech based companies, but in creative roles. This STEAM (STEM + the Arts) panel will feature professionals working in some of the biggest tech companies in the world and how their creative skills and roles impact their space in tech.


Panelists include:

Katharine Meister '13, TikTok - US Commerce Category Leader, Beauty & Personal Care (former Amazon, Macy's, KPMG)

Katharine Meister '13 is a Beauty and Personal Care Leader for TikTok Shop, US Operations. Katharine oversees business development and brand onboarding, shop growth and search functionality focused on unlocking the potential of social commerce in the US. She is a beauty and commerce enthusiast. Katharine started her retail career with Macy's in buying and merchandising roles. She was also a merchant for Stitch Fix and then joined Amazon. There she led the Consumables Team through Q4 2022.

Katharine received a BBA in Accounting and BA in Environmental Studies at William & Mary and a MBA at UCLA Anderson. She lives in Los Angeles, CA with her husband. She enjoys entertaining, running and reading.

Melanie Vargas '16, Meta - Product Analytics Manager, International Growth (former Capital One)

Ethan Miller '23, Uber - Paid Social Associate

Ethan Miller '22 currently serves as a Paid Social Associate in Uber's global performance marketing department. Despite earning a degree in Government from William & Mary, Miller discovered his passion for marketing during an internship in the William & Mary summer in DC program. In his role, Miller is responsible for overseeing and managing Uber's restaurant advertising on various social media platforms. Prior to this position, he contributed to the reporting of Uber's global performance marketing channels within the Delivery (Uber Eats) line of business. Miller's work seamlessly blends technology and creativity, and he is enthusiastic about sharing insights on how individuals with creative backgrounds can carve out their niche and thrive in the tech industry.
