John Yoo is an attorney, law professor, and author. He served as the Deputy Assistant U.S. Attorney General in the Office of Legal Counsel, Department of Justice, during the George W. Bush administration. He is the Emanuel S. Heller Professor of Law at the University of California at Berkeley School of Law (Boalt) and is a prolific author on matters of foreign affairs, national security, and executive authority.
