[PAST EVENT] Ewell Concert Series: Richmond Piano Trio
March 20, 2015
7:30pm - 9pm
Join us for the inaugural performance of the newly formed Richmond Piano Trio. Each member of the trio brings a wealth of performing experience.
Internationally acclaimed pianist, harpsichordist, and chamber musician Joanne Kong has received critical praise for her "great finesse and flexibility" (The Washington Post) and "superb artistry" (San Antonio Express-News). A Bach specialist, she has recorded J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations, Beethoven's Diabelli Variations, and German and Russian art songs with baritone Zheng Zhou.
Violinist Daisuke Yamamoto, concertmaster of the Richmond Symphony, is known for exhibiting "immense virtuosity and probing musicianship" (South Florida Classical Review). As a chamber musician he has collaborated with Jamie Laredo, Robert McDuffie, Ida Kavafian, Peter Wiley, Steven Tenenbaum, members of the Cleveland Orchestra, Tokyo String Quartet, and the Jasper String Quartet.
Cellist Neal Cary has been praised for "robust tone and high-romantic phrasing," and the "tremendous amount of emotion and heart" (The Richmond Times Dispatch) he brings to his performances. Principal cellist of the Richmond Symphony and the Williamsburg Symphonia, Mr. Cary has been on the Performing Arts Faculty of William & Mary since 1991.
