Emily Wilcox is a visiting assistant professor of modern Chinese studies at the College of William and Mary. She graduated with her Ph.D. in Medical Anthropology from UC Berkeley in May, 2011, with a dissertation entitled "The Dialectics of Virtuosity: Dance in the People's Republic of China,
1949-2009." Her past publications appear in "Body and Society," "Kroeber Anthropology Society Papers," "Anthropology News," and 《艺海》(Yi Hai - Art). She has three forthcoming articles appearing this year in "Asian Theatre Journal," "Journal of the Anthropological Study of Human Movement," and 《舞蹈评论》(Wudao Pinglun - Dance Criticism). She teaches courses on Chinese popular culture, modern Chinese literature, Chinese performance and Chinese cultural studies.
