Ms. Ravel was nominated to the Federal Election Commission by President Barack Obama on June 21, 2013. Commissioner Ravel is an outspoken advocate for putting a stopper on dark money political campaign contributions. During her time at the California Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC), Ravel oversaw the regulation of campaign finance, lobbyist registration and reporting, and ethics and conflicts of interest related to officeholders and public employees. On November 5th, Commissioner Ravel will share with us the role that the FEC plays in reigning in the abuses of raising and spending money in elections and her take on campaign spending in the 2016 Presidential Election.
