Dr. Richard A. Rose is Bureau Director in the Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services of the NYS Education Department. This lecture is based on his latest article, ?Outside the Rules: Invisible American Indians in New York State,? published in Wicazo Sa Review (Vol. 30, No. 2., 2015) and will focus on issues of native political recognition; native communities which exist in the grey areas between the current sets of ?rules?; and the historical circumstances and attitudes which placed them in these precarious situations. This event is hosted by the American Indian Student Association on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 in Tyler Hall Room 114 at 7 PM.
