When thinking of a way to honor Austen's memory, her parents' first idea was to combine some of her favorite things and bring Valley Maker to W&M, and a few months later that idea had turned into a real life concert. Anyone who knew Austen could tell you that Valley Maker was one of her favorite musicians - she even had one of his lyrics tattooed on her body, so talk about being a dedicated fan. We're aiming for this to be a night for people to come together in the spirit of good music, good friends, and communitas, and celebrate everything Austen loved most. Hope to see you there!

In addition, as many of you all may know, during Austen's senior year at W&M, she was the Homebrew Committee chair. As a tribute to her time and dedication to the Homebrew family, Homebrew performers will serve as the openers for Valley Maker. Their names will be released upon confirmation.

Here's a little blurb about Valley Maker for those who may be unfamiliar with him:

Valley Maker is the brainchild of songwriter Austin Crane. Now based out of Seattle, Austin has been writing songs and performing as Valley Maker in frequent collaboration with Amy Godwin and other musicians between South Carolina and Washington since 2010. Valley Maker released their latest full length record, When I Was A Child, on September 25th, 2015. {{http://bricklanerecords.com/}}

PPS The show is free, but if you're looking to make a donation to a cause, a few of Austen's friends and family are raising money for Team Austen for a 5K in Richmond to benefit the Brain Aneurysm Foundation. For more info on the foundation or to make a donation to Team Austen, head here:
