The talk will provide some pertinent advice for Ph.D. students who are starting their research careers. It will be followed by a Q&A to discuss questions and alternative opinions. All first and second year students who are registered for the colloquium or do not pass the candidacy are required to attend, however, the talk should be useful to any graduate student.
