[PAST EVENT] Modern Languages and Literatures- Diversity Story Exchange Workshop
Access & Features
- Free food
The story exchange workshop will be conducted in association with Narrative 4, a global organization driven by artists, shaped by educators, and led by students. Narrative 4’s core methodology, the story exchange, is designed to help students understand that their voices, stories, actions and lives matter, and that they have the power to change, rebuild, and revolutionize systems. APPLY BY WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23d.
The event’s guest speakers are Lee Keylock, N4 Director of Global Programs and Training, and Evan Barker, N4 Southeast Manager for the United States.
MLL faculty facilitators will be Professors Tomoyuki Sasaki (Japanese Studies), Michael Leruth (French and Francophone Studies), Mona Zaki (Arabic Studies), Rachel Varra (Hispanic Studies) and Angela Leruth (French and Francophone Studies). MLL student co-facilitators will be DeJah Robinson (Linguistics and Arabic Studies) and Joey Upadhyay (Linguistics and Japanese Studies).
We are looking for students who are open-minded and willing to share a story that can bring people together through a temporary identity/point of view switch. Your story will be retold by another participant who will become you as they retell your story in the first person in their own words.
Move from a safe space to a brave space and put yourself in someone else’s shoes!
