[PAST EVENT] Gekiga and the Japanese Counterculture of the '60s

Dr. Suzuki, of Baruch College, CUNY, will discuss his first-hand experience with Japanese manga as well as the fascinating genre called gekiga, or "dramatic pictures," which emerged in 1960s Japan. Dr. Suzuki is the author of many articles on manga and speculative fiction. This talk is made possible by the generous support of the Reves Distinguished Lecture Series and the Center for the Liberal Arts. Open to the public.
