This year's lecture is entitled "A Nation of Technologically-Tethered Workers? Technology Use and the Consequences of Work Intensification." This year's lecturer is Noelle Chesley, Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. Professor Chesley's research, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, asks whether technology use creates a more stressful, fast-paced work environment, and interrogates the consequences of technology use for worker health and well-being. In this address she examines both the costs and benefits of technology use for contemporary workers.
