In celebration of Earth Day, discover the inspiring story of the most successful eelgrass restoration project in the world. Join us on the VIMS Facebook page for the premier of the short video (10 minutes) SAV: Restoring Underwater Praires. The video documents the restoration of eelgrass to the seaside bays of Virginia's Eastern Shore, a 20 year project led by Dr. Robert "JJ" Orth of VIMS. Learn about the importance of these underwater grasses to the coastal ecosystem and community and how their restoration may lead to the return of Bay Scallops along Virginia's Eastern Shore. Dr. Orth will be able to answer questions via the comments section on Facebook after the video premiers.
