Tidal Wetlands

Tidal wetlands are found all along the Chesapeake Bay and have many vital ecological functions - from acting as nursery grounds for local species to helping buffer shorelines from storm surge and tides. Join us as Dr. Robert Isdell, a VIMS Assistant Research Scientist, helps us explore tidal wetlands and what the future holds for these important ecosystems.

Discovery Labs are provided each month by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve in Virginia (CBNERR-VA). These labs provide fun, family-friendly opportunities to learn about the Chesapeake Bay and our local environment. Each lab includes a short presentation followed by activity demonstrations and trivia games. Resources are also provided for kids and adults to further their exploration of the topic at home. Registration is required to receive access to this online event.
