The exhibit explores the history of Chinese dance through images and text co-curated by William & Mary professor Dr. Emily Wilcox and University of Michigan Chinese Studies Librarian Dr. Liangyu Fu. The exhibit features rare archival materials drawn from the University of Michigan Library Chinese Dance Collection, including photographs, performance programs, and media reports documenting diverse stories about how dance embodies cultural traditions and engages social change.

This exhibit is presented with support from the University of Michigan Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies, the William & Mary Arts & Sciences Faculty Grants Fund, and the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations’ Public Intellectuals Program, which is generously funded by Carnegie Corporation of New York.

Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., January 13-February 17, 2023. (Closed January 16. Open Saturday, February 4.)

Opening reception and curator’s talk will be held January 27, 2:00-4:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
