[PAST EVENT] DEI Film Discussion: Selma
Access & Features
- Registration/RSVP
Join us for a discussion about Selma, the 2014 film directed by Ava DuVernay that chronicles the 1965 Selma to Montgomery voting rights marches.
Hosted by Natoya Haskins, director of diversity & inclusion at the School of Education, this virtual discussion will focus on the historic events of 1965 depicted in the movie. Over a period of three months, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr led a dangerous campaign to secure voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The epic march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Selma is currently streaming with a free account on the Peacock app, or available to rent on Amazon. Watch the movie ahead of time, then join us as we gather as a community to discuss.
