[PAST EVENT] Open Forum on Textbook Affordability
November 6, 2015
4pm - 5pm
The library is sponsoring a visit from Cable Green, Director of Global Learning Initiatives at Creative Commons on Friday, November 6th. As part of his visit, from 4-5pm in the Ford classroom in Swem, we will be having an open forum on textbook affordability.
We recently collected general feedback from students on whiteboards in some of our libraries about textbook costs. Students reported costs for individual textbooks as high as $450. Dr. Green is involved in initiatives in the US and around the world to help faculty use and develop open educational resources, which can be textbooks, videos, or other learning tools that can be used instead of expensive traditional textbooks.
