The Symposium will highlight a discussion on design patents and their utility in Intellectual Property law and provide an opportunity for students to learn about the Intellectual Property initiatives at William & Mary Law School. The full schedule of events is:

  • 12:00 PM - Student Lunch Panel with SIPS Students (discussing our experiences at William & Mary Law School and in summer programs) in Room 141
  • 1:00 PM - Symposium - Design Patents: Are They Necessary? in Room 124
  • 4:30 PM - Reception (serving hor d'oeuvres, wine, and beer) in the Law School Lobby.  

The Symposium speakers will include Chris Cotropia (Director of the Richmond Law School's Intellectual Property Institute), Garth Rademaker (Supervisory Design Patent Examiner at the USPTO), and Maya Eckstein (a partner at Hunton & Williams LLP specializing in design patents) to cover perspectives from varied legal professions.
