The year 2020 was an awakening year. Faced with Covid-19, racial unrest and significant challenges to our democratic systems, we were forced to reckon with who we are as a country and who we aspire to be. For some racial groups, the awakenings of 2020 brought greater attention to everyday experiences and circumstances ignored over time and exacerbated by crisis. The impact of Covid-19 landed disproportionately on the Black community, shedding a light on the inequities in healthcare and our economic system. The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and Breonna Taylor highlighted the systemic nature of violence against people of color. The political battles focused on a "we-they" narrative that called attention to who should and should not have access to the process of electing our political representatives. During this awakening, we recognized the need for ongoing dialog on the topic of race in America. Join us on January 26, 2021 at 12 noon for an enlightening conversation featuring notable representatives from the Black community as we discuss "Race in America - The Black Experience."
