From THE GAZA FIXER

The Gaza Fixer is an award-winning and internationally acclaimed documentary film about the life of Raed Athamneh, a six-time war survivor and trusted news fixer to foreign reporters covering Gaza.

Filmmaker Mariam Shahin will be present for Questions & Answers after the film.

As a "fixer," Raed  gives aid to workers and journalists tours in Gaza, making connections, translating, and organizing their work. He first worked and became friends with Mariam Shahin in 1996 during the first parliamentary elections in Gaza in over five decades.

The Gaza Fixer documents defining moments of Raed's life, notably when he was transformed  from a journalist's "fixer" into a tragic story himself. In an ongoing chronicle of Raed's life and the fate of the people of Gaza, the documentary captures with remarkable intimacy their suffering, endurance, and humanity living under Israeli Occupation, blockade, and siege.

**Mariam Shahin is a Jordan-based writer and award-winning documentary filmmaker. She is the author of Palestine: A Guide and Unheard Voices: Women on Sanctions and War in Iraq, as well as having contributed to Christian Science Monitor, The Nation, AramcoWorld, The Globe and Mail (Canada), The Guardian, The Independent and Tageszeitung in Berlin.

Since 2006, she has worked as an independent filmmaker with MaysaraFilms on documentary films that have aired on the BBC, PBS, Sky and most prominently on the Al Jazeera Network.
