Join Dr. Paul Vierthaler (Chinese Studies) and Dr. Rachel Varra (Hispanic Studies) remotely to learn more about lab- and team-based research happening with language and linguistics at William & Mary. Dr. Vierthaler will discuss his digital humanities research lab and some current projects he and his students are working on, which include identifying anonymous authors of historical documents and building video games for social good. Dr. Varra will introduce you to DATLaS: (Linguistics Lab for the:) Documentation, Analysis and Translation of Language in Society and talk about her current project compiling a corpus of Spanish as spoken in Virginia. Student research assistants will also talk about the kinds of work they do in these labs and projects.
