This program will enable selected students to expand their knowledge-base in the areas of Immigration, Border Studies, and Human Rights through an immersion trip to the U.S.-Mexico border region. In collaboration with BorderLinks, our institutional host based in Tucson, AZ, students will investigate immigration issues from a variety of different perspectives. A typical itinerary offers students the opportunity to engage with representatives from NGOs and humanitarian organizations, community activists, public defenders, and government officials, as well as observe deportation proceedings and hike along a "migrant trail." Upon returning to campus, students will enroll in a semester-long course on immigration, medical interpretation, or education and minority communities.
Students must have a valid passport to participate in the immersion trip.
In order to be reviewed, applications must be complete.
