Mana Neyestani, with his keen eye for detail and mastery of visual metaphor, crafts graphic novels that offer a personal perspective on the experiences of Iranians navigating immigration, such as his own move from Iran to France. His work also illuminates the lives of diverse communities within Iranian borderlands. Employing visual puns and evocative imagery, Neyestani explores various landscapes of individuals facing displacement and hardship, guiding the reader through complex and often poignant moments that have shaped his journey as an immigrant, a visual artist, and a storyteller.
Join Prof. Ghobadlou and her "Image, Text, Story" FREN/COLL 100 class for a Q&A about Mana's creative process of visualizing ideas and crafting compelling narratives—his own and many others—within the vibrant and impactful realm of Francophone graphic novels.
Conversation in English. Register here for in-person or virtual participation.
