Tim Olbrych, Renaissance and Baroque guitarist and William & Mary faculty member, will present a concert of early music on November 16, 2021. The program will be held at 7PM in Ewell Recital Hall on the William & Mary campus. It is free and open to the public.
The four course Renaissance guitar was the first Spanish guitar invented in 1450 and was popular in Europe until the mid-1600’s. The five course Baroque guitar was popular in Europe from 1550-1750. The music of these rarely heard instruments and composers are a feast for the ears. Come and hear the Renaissance music of Guillaume Morlaye and the Baroque music of Carlo Calvi and François Le Cocq. It will be delightful and informative and change the way you think about the guitar.
