Award-winning American Impressionist painter Tricia Bass of Evergreen, Colorado will be hosting a paint-along, mini-workshop and “plein air” (French for open air) painting demonstration on Monday, April 22nd (Earth Day!) from 5:00 – 8:00 PM on the Riverfront Lawn of the Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) in Gloucester Point, VA. This event is free to the public but attendees must register using the link below. Participants can bring their own easel and painting supplies or they can try their hand with painting on one of two shared easels. A suggested supply list will be sent to attendees upon registration. Observers are also welcome, please bring your own chair. This is an event geared toward adults but a limited number of children may attend if accompanied by a parent or caregiver.
Bass is a visiting guest artist and advisor for a future, planned artist-in-residency program to be hosted yearly by VIMS. She paints the American west with a colorful, painterly style and is excited about painting in and around the Chesapeake Bay. Tricia is a signature member of Plein Air Artists of Colorado and spends a great deal of time painting “en plein air” throughout the Rocky Mountain west. She is also a member of the national Women Artists of the West and the American Impressionist Society. Tricia’s work can be viewed on her website at www.TriciaBass.com.
