Davison M. Douglas' scholarly and teaching interests have focused primarily on the use of law to accomplish racial change in 19th- and 20th-century America. He has written or edited eight books on American constitutional history and law, and has been named five times the outstanding teacher at William & Mary Law School. He is currently writing a biography of Pauli Murray entitled, "Pauli Murray and the Pursuit of American Democracy," a project supported by a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities.
