"Ghost pots," abandoned crab pots lost in storms or with lines cut by boaters, have a big impact on the Chesapeake Bay. Come learn about this issue, and what people are doing to help. Join Dr. Kirk Havens from the Center for Coastal Resources Management at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science as he explains efforts to use sonar to find the pots, and describes some of their surprising catches. Live animal displays, hands-on sonar activity, kids' activities and more!

These family-friendly labs are provided by the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve at VIMS. There is no charge; however, registration is required due to limited space (registration now full). Call 804-684-7878 for additional information.
