Chadra's commitment and reverence for the ancestors began 17 years ago when she began her career at the Office of Public Education and Interpretation of the African Burial Ground Project (ABG) where she worked as Public Educator and Media Coordinator. In her roles, she presented lectures on the National Historic Landmark and National Monument site to audiences of 3rd grade school children to college students at Columbia University, provided updates on the skeletal remains provided by Scientific Director, Dr. Michael L. Blakey, conducted tours of the Foley Square Archeological Laboratory, gave tours of 290 Broadway, the African Burial Ground site and of the artwork which commemorated the ABG. Chadra participated in rituals and ceremonies on the sacred grounds to honor the Africans exhumed and still interred at the site. As the Media Coordinator, Chadra was responsible for all press related materials and supplied images of the ABG and skeletal remains to be featured in publications across the globe.

Chadra is published under the American Anthropological Association's journal Transforming Anthropology, has presented lectures, written articles and has been featured on radio interviews for her work around Rituals of Remembrance.
