Emanuel Waddell joined the Department of Nanoengineering as Professor and Chair in Aug 2022. Previously, Professor Waddell was at the University of Alabama in Huntsville as a member of the Department of Chemistry. Emanuel served as the campus coordinator for the National Science Foundation (NSF) Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation on the UAH Campus. Emanuel is a graduate of Morehouse College (I.B.S., Chemistry, Physics) and Louisiana State University (Ph.D., Analytical Chemistry). His research at LSU was in near infrared time-resolved fluorescence with applications in DNA sequencing. From 2017 to 2019, Emanuel served as the national president for the National Organization for the Professional Advancement of Black Chemists and Chemical Engineers (NOBCChE).
