William & Mary Ph.D. alumna, LaShonda Katrice Barnett, Kansas City-born novelist and scholar of music, is the author of the debut novel Jam on the Vine. She edited the volumes, I Got Thunder: Black Women Songwriters on Their Crafts and Off the Record: Conversations with African American & Brazilian Women Musicians. Barnett has been twice nominated for the Pushcart prize in fiction.
