Did you know that Thomas Jefferson bought a copy of the Qur'an from DOG Street? The same copy he used along with other religious texts to draft the Declaration of Independence. In honor of our wonderful Thomas Jefferson's birthday, the Department of Religious Studies will be sponsoring a lecture and presentation about "Jefferson and his Quran" by W&M Ph.D. student Alix Jerome, which will be followed by a video conference with none other than HRH Ghazi bin Muhammad, Personal Envoy and Advisor on Religious and Cultural Affairs to King Abdullah of the Kingdom of Jordan.

Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad of Jordan is professor of philosophy, and a direct descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. He has been nominated for the Nobel Peace prize for his pioneer work in global interfaith dialogue and understanding. He is the author of the interfaith dialogue manifesto "A Common Word Between Us and You" -- a document that calls for a fresh approach in interfaith dialogue by stressing two common core principles in Islam and Christianity.
