Presentation by Angela Navarro, Virginia Deputy Secretary of Natural Resources, hosted by the Student Environmental & Animal Law Society and the Virginia Coastal Policy Center. She will be available about 10 minutes before her talk to answer questions from students.
Secretary Navarro will be discussing Virginia's efforts to develop a regulatory program for the reduction of carbon pollution from existing electric power generation facilities, pursuant to the Virginia Governor?s Executive Order 57, and the outlook for federal regulation of carbon pollution.
The following is excerpted from the press release announcing her appointment in May 2015:
Angela Navarro spent the last five years in the Virginia office of the Southern Environmental Law Center, where she was a member of the Clean Energy and Air team. While at SELC, she led the organization's work to advance investments in energy efficiency across the Southeast and was one of the organization?s lead attorneys in electric utility proceedings before the Virginia State Corporation Commission. She is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Florida and holds a law degree from Georgetown University Law Center.
