As the annual endowed lecture in honor of Professor Emeritus J. Ward Jones, the Classical Studies Department presents Alison Keith, Professor of Classics and Director of the Jackman Humanities Insitute at the University of Toronto, who will speak on the topic of "Greek Courtesans in Ancient Rome?.
Professor Keith is the author of Engendering Rome: Women in Latin Epic (Cambridge University Press, 2000), and is recognized as one of the foremost authorities on women and gender issues in Latin literature. This lecture is the third offered by the department this year in conjunction with the celebration of 100 years of Women at W&M.
The lecture is free and open to the public, and will be followed by a reception to which all attendees are invited.
