1127Dr. Bryan King '93 of GlaxoSmithKline will present "Would Walter White Enjoy Non-illicit Pharmaceutical Drug Discovery?"
Bryan received his B.S. in chemistry from William & Mary and his Ph.D. in synthetic organic chemistry from the Univ. of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Over his 20 year career in pharmaceutical research, Bryan has held positions of increasing responsibility and is currently Scientific Director of Medicinal Chemistry at GlaxoSmithKline. He has extensive experience in leading cross-functional matrix programs as well as medicinal chemistry teams across many therapeutic areas including oncology, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease. Bryan is recognized for building strong collaborative team work amongst all functions, finding innovative solutions to problems, implementing clear strategy, and developing others with an emphasis on continuous evolution of skills, education, and utilization of technology. Bryan is the co-author of 23 publications, 14 patents, 1 book chapter, and co-inventor of 9 clinical candidates including one Phase 2 asset.
