[PAST EVENT] W&M Middle Eastern Music Ensemble Spring Concert

Please join us in at 8pm on Friday, April 1st in Ewell Recital Hall for the W&M Middle Eastern Music Ensemble spring concert. Our concert will feature a set of well-known Turkish urban songs about the city of Istanbul. We will also perform two Sephardic songs, premier an original saz semaisi (instrumental piece) composed by W&M senior Zach Aravich, and offer a performance of a Persian poem attributed to Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi (1207-1273) by community artist Farrokh Namazi. Our concert will additionally feature ney (reed flute) master Eymen Gurtan, who is the W&M 2010-2011 Middle Eastern Studies program artist-in-residence. The concert is free of charge.
