Please join us by Zoom to hear R. Lorraine Collins, Ph.D., speak about cannabis science and policy. Dr. Collins is Associate Dean for Research and Professor from the Department of Community Health and Health Behavior at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Collins received her PhD in Psychology from Rutgers University and is an expert in alcohol and marijuana use, particularly among emerging and young adults. She has conducted NIH-funded addiction research for many years, and she served on a committee of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine that completed a report on “The Health Effects of Cannabis and Cannabinoids: The Current State of Evidence and Recommendations for Research.” Dr. Collins also served on Governor Cuomo’s working group that was “tasked with drafting legislation on how to regulate marijuana use in New York State.” She is often quoted in the news.

Dr. Collins’ talk is the third of five talks on “State Policy on Mental Health and Substance Abuse” sponsored by the Schroeder Center for Health Policy during the Fall 2021 semester. The remaining two talks, which are open to the William & Mary community, are:
