[PAST EVENT] Celebrity Chef Katsuya Fukushima and Team Cooks for Students in Center Court, Sadler Center
Celebrity Chef Katsuya Fukushima is one of the United States? top chefs. In addition to being featured in Anthony Bourdain?s ?No Reservations? and ?Gourmet?s Diary of a Foodie,? he has appeared two times in ?Iron Chef America,? defeating Iron Chefs Bobby Flay and Jose Garces, respectively.
Chef Fukushima is currently Executive Chef and partner with renowned and award winning restauranteurs Yama Jewayni and Daisuki Utuagawa of the nationally-acclaimed Washington DC restaurants Daikaya-Izakaya, Bantam King, Haikan, and Hatoba (opening Spring, 2019)
Restauranteurs Yama Jewayni will be in attendance and he and Chef Fukushima will be guest judges at the GREAT WM ASIA COOK-OFF later Monday evening. Their visit and this event is a part of the GREAT WM ASIA COOK-OFF, which is organized by and a part of Prof. Stephen Sheehi's courses "The Culture of Arab Food" (ARAB 150) and "The AMES East Asia Student Think Tank" (AMES 385). The event is sponsored by Asian and Middle East Studies (AMES), the Asian and Pacific Islander American Program (APIA), the Decolonizing Humanities Project, Global Studies, the Freeman Fellowship Program, the Office of the Dean of Arts and Sciences, and the Charles Center.
This event is also a part of WM Dining's "Diversity Series" featuring the cuisine of Japan.
