Location
Location not specifiedAccess & Features
- Open to the public
On Friday, June 26th, the William & Mary Confucius Institute is proud to host scholar Manuel Parreno for an online lecture on the Chinese philosophy of Laozi! Laozi is an ancient Chinese philosopher who is believed to be the author of the Daodejing, the founding text for Daoist philosophy. Click for more information on Laozi and the Daodejing.
In this public talk, the speaker examines Laozi's belief in the duality of human nature and argues that we are not our own as we depend on laws that govern our existence. The speaker does this by exploring Laozi's Dao as it relates to human beings, our lives during a global pandemic, and Laozi's view that understanding who we are is within everyone's reach.
The lecture will be held from 2:00 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. on Zoom software. The password for the meeting is 1693. Use this link to join the lecture: https://cwm.zoom.us/j/9065109350
