PULSE: Cultural Connections through Movement

Join the W&M Dance Program and Prof. Valerie Winborne for a day of masterclasses in the Dunham Technique, AfroBeats, Traditional West African Dance, and Hip Hop.

No experience is required. FREE and Open to the Public.


Schedule of Masterclasses:

10:00 AM -11:50 AM Lecture & Workshop with Dr. MaryAnn Laverty (Modern Dance Pioneer Katherine Dunham & the Dunham Technique)

12:00 PM - 1:30 PM Dance Class (AfroBeats with Rita Cohen)

2:00 PM - 3:30 PM Dance Class (Traditional West African Dance and Drumming with Yaye Amtyh Asili)

4:00 PM - 5:45 PM Dance Class (The History of Hip Hop & B-Boy/Breaking with PHATZ)
