Justice Beyond Borders: The Marc Fogel Case and U.S. Advocacy for Wrongfully Detained Americans in Russia
Sasha Phillips serves as Counsel in Dentons Cohen & Grigsby’s Corporate Practice Group, where her international perspective and steadfast commitment to excellence empower her to advise clients on complex corporate, policy, anti-corruption, and international trade matters. She regularly represents a diverse group of industry leaders spanning manufacturing, robotics, healthcare, energy, art, and financial services, offering guidance on OFAC sanctions, import/export controls, and cross-border disputes, while also handling intricate litigation and regulatory investigations. Notably, Sasha has provided strategic counsel in high-stakes cases—such as representing the family of Marc Fogel in a pro bono effort that spanned multiple jurisdictions—and has actively contributed to initiatives promoting human rights and pro bono legal services. Her leadership and unconventional approach to legal practice is reflected in her work on grassroots advocacy campaigns like "Make A Marc"—an art advocacy campaign for Marc Fogel—her role in launching the Art for Wellness program, and her participation in numerous CLE and academic forums. Recognized with awards such as the Have a HeART Humanitarian Award and inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America®: Ones to Watch list (2025), Sasha’s dynamic career and dedication to social justice continue to make a profound impact both in and beyond the legal community. Sasha holds Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh, Masters in Institutional and Organizational Psychology from Harvard University, and undergraduate and graduate degrees in fine art, and serves as a board member of Alina’s Light, an non-profit organization serving survivors of domestic violence.
