Ninotchka Rosca won the American Book Award for her novel “Twice Blessed.” She will speak on her experience as a political prisoner of the Marcos dictatorship and human rights in the Philippines.

Coinciding with the 48th anniversary commemoration of Martial Law in the Philippines, the aim for BAYAN KO is to educate the new generation, especially Pilipinos in the global diaspora, about the impact and continued implications of the US-sanctioned Marcos dictatorship and on the state of human rights abuse in the Philippines. Our end goal is not only to broaden the audience's social conscience but to incite them to action in hopes they can mobilize others to support the cause, if only to speak up and educate others.
