Comedian Roy Wood Jr., a correspondent on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, will perform at William & Mary Jan. 10 as part of the university?s Charter Day weekend. The show is scheduled for 8 p.m. in the Sadler Center?s Commonwealth Auditorium, with doors opening at 7 p.m. Tickets ? which will only be sold at the door on a first-come, first-served basis ? are free for W&M students with ID, $5 for faculty and staff and $10 for the general public. The show is sponsored by Alma Mater Productions in conjunction with the W&M Student Assembly. Wood, who was a top-three finalist in the seventh season of NBC?s Last Comic Standing, has performed on multiple national TV shows, including HBO?s Def Comedy Jam, Conan, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In 2017, his first hour-long standup special, Father Figure, premiered on Comedy Central. He began his comedy career while still a student at Florida A&M University and released his first full comedy CD in 2013. Wood, who appeared on TBS? Sullivan & Son for three seasons, is a regular contributer to ESPN's Sports Nation and is also known for his prank calls on morning radio shows, including the Bob and Tom Show. W&M?s annual Charter Day tradition celebrates the day on which the university received its royal charter in 1693. For the past few years, a comedy show has been part of the weekend?s activities. Bo Burnham performed the inaugural show in 2016, and Damon Wayans Jr. performed last year.
