[PAST EVENT] Path to Diplomacy: Serving in the Foreign Service of the United States

Please join United States Foreign Service Officer Samantha Smith as she describes the path that took her from a Theatrical and Performing Arts degree on the east coast, to serving as a public defender on the west coast, and eventually to international diplomacy.
Smith is currently the assistant cultural coordinator for the Bureau of African Affairs, working on educational and cultural exchanges between the U.S. and all 54 sub-Saharan African countries.
Smith previously served as cultural affairs officer at the U.S. Consulate in Istanbul, Turkey and political/consular officer in Lagos, Nigeria. Smith's next assignment will be spokesperson at the U.S. Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria.
