Two months later, the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary still lingers in our memories.

However, Newtown, Connecticut does not want to be remembered as a place of tragedy, but as a place where change begins.

We wish to honor that change by creating the dialogue on gun control here at William & Mary. How can we, as students, engage in the important issues involved in gun violence? And how can we all, despite our differing opinions, find common ground?

Apolis is hosting a panel that will feature professors Harvey Langholtz of Psychology, Victoria Costa of Philosophy, Carlisle Moody of Economics, and Adam Gershowitz of W&M School of Law, all of whom are specialized in the aspects of gun control and gun violence that relate back to their field of study. The panel aims to address the effectiveness of proposed gun control measures debated right now in Congress and the role of media and mental health in gun violence. We hope the panel will offer insights into how we can reduce the incidence of gun violence and make our communities a better, safer place.

While we have questions prepared for the speakers, we also welcome questions that you may have. {{https://forms.wm.edu/8236, We encourage you to submit any questions you have before the event here.}}

At the end of the panel, there will be an option to sign the Sandy Hook Promise: a promise to support common sense solutions that make our community a better, safer place.
