Judge Robert Katzmann is the Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and a champion for immigrant access to legal representation. He formed the Katzmann Study Group on Immigrant Representation in 2010 and originated the idea for Immigrant Justice Corps as a response to the crisis in legal representation for immigrants that he saw every day as a federal judge. Judge Katzmann chaired the U.S. Judicial Conference Committee on the Judicial Branch, serves as a member of the U.S. Judicial Conference, and is a commissioner on the Supreme Court Fellows Commission. He is the recipient of the Learned Hand Medal for Excellence in Federal Jurisprudence of the Federal Bar Council among many other awards.
