Professor Kathleen Jenkins, Professor of Sociology here at W&M
and Director of the Institute for Pilgrimage Studies will present and lead discussion on her ethnographic research exploring the experiences of parents and young adult children who walk the Camino de Santiago in northwest Spain. Drawing from formal interviews, participant observation, Camino blogs, and other primary source documents, her analysis focuses on stories of families who invest in the Camino as a practice for building relational intimacy, and the social and spiritual encounters that supported and inhibited their goals.
