[PAST EVENT] Out of the Darkness: A Suicide Prevention Awareness Walk
Access & Features
- Free food
- Open to the public
- Registration/RSVP
Three years ago a walk was started to raise awareness and provide hope for suicide prevention. Since then the walk has raised over $30k for Prevention Education.
Join us for the 3rd annual William & Mary Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk. Hosted by Alpha Tau Omega, Student Assembly, and the Department of Health and Wellness and in partnership with the Virginia Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). Our goals are to raise money and awareness about prevention, support positive mental health, and open a conversation for the community.
The walk is about coming together as a campus and the greater Williamsburg/JCC area to bring issues and conversations about suicide out of the darkness and into the light.
If you have any questions, comments, accessibility needs, or want to get involved in volunteering with this event, feel free to contact Danny McNeil.
To register, and/or donate to the walk, go to our donor page: www.afsp.org/wm
For more information on depression and suicide prevention, go to the AFSP website.
On-Site Registration begins at 8am and the walk departs at 9am from the William & Mary Student Recreation Center. The walk ends by 10am at the McLeod Tyler Wellness Center, where brunch will be provided, while supplies last.
We hope to see you there!
